I met Makoto Takeuchi, photographer, in Brooklyn on July 18, 2010.  I emailed him a week before to see how he had been doing.  He emailed me back and said he had been doing BBQ alone on the roof at his apartment.  I was like BBQ alone….!  Then he invited me to his BBQ.  On the roof, I asked him why he did BBQ alone and what his romance was.  He said, “finding a sanctuary wherever I am is my romance.  That’s why.”
